“It is sunny today, and the sky is very clean and blue. However, I don’t like blazing sun in summer….” Generally, people are good at expressing their own thoughts instead of take notes of others’ words. For example, when here comes a meeting, most members only remember the brief content and forget many important details after meeting. Only few people take some rough notes of this meeting. While how to take proper notes?
Be clear about your purpose
Before you take action, you must be clear about your purpose of this note taking, because there are different methods for different purposes. For instance, if you just want to summarize a meeting and make the meeting content as your own fortune, you can take outline notes and add your own opinion under the outlines after meeting. However, if you need to share your notes with other colleagues, you may minute the meeting carefully and never add your own comments at all.
Writing neatly
Note taking means it is a useful material for you and you may review it again and again in the near future. In my middle school, I had a note book about famous and beautiful sentences which were extremely useful for my writing skill improvement. And I usually read this book in high school and even now. In my heart this book is very important because it stands for my youth time to some degree. Of course I always wrote neatly, otherwise I would not keep it for such a long time.
Preserve it carefully
In some cases, people like to take notes on a piece of paper, and which is hard to find in the near future when they want to use it. As a result, you’d better take notes on a note book or note taking software which is much easier to keep and search. If you don’t preserve your notes carefully, you will find that it is waste ink to take notes at very first.
Admittedly, note taking is a good habit for all human beings. However, the key point is that you may take proper and useful notes. What’s more, to keep your notes in order is also a significant step for note taking.
